Crypto.com Card Review

Best For
Still the best mainstream crypto card — but the rewards are a shadow of 2021
A prepaid Visa that lets you spend crypto, with staking-based cashback. After 2025's cuts the top rate is 5% (not 8%), and you now need an active stake or a paid subscription to earn anything.
Pros
- Free to issue, no monthly or annual fee
- Lets you spend a crypto-funded balance worldwide where Visa is accepted
- 0% foreign-exchange fee at checkout
- Spotify & Netflix rebates and airport-lounge access on higher tiers
- Available across the EEA, UK and US
Cons
- Top cashback is now 5% (Obsidian), requiring ~$400K of CRO staked
- Since Nov 2025 you must stake or pay a subscription to earn any cashback
- Amazon Prime rebate was discontinued in November 2025
- Rewards are paid in volatile CRO, and staking locks up your capital

Crypto.com is a fast-growing cryptocurrency exchange that is successfully becoming part of our everyday life.
They support a wide range of crypto and fiat currencies, so it's perfect for all crypto enthusiasts.
Their contactless Visa Crypto Card was one of the first cards with the possibility to spend your cryptos for everyday purchases without unnecessary waiting. You need to load your crypto funds to the card and convert them to your preferred fiat currency.
💡 After transferring your cryptos to fiat money, you will need to move the funds to the card manually, the same goes for when you are putting the money back to cryptos.
You can use the card around the world where Visa is accepted. It's a prepaid card, and you can top up your account using bank transfers, credit or debit cards, cryptocurrencies, or PayPal.
Crypto.com offers up to 5% cashback on purchases — but the rate depends heavily on how much of Crypto.com's native token, CRO, you stake. (If you've seen "8% cashback" quoted elsewhere, that figure is from 2021 and no longer exists — see below.)
A Visa card is free to issue, with a metal version for those who stake more CRO to unlock higher cashback and perks.
While the benefits and rewards depend on the card tier you choose, the fees, limits, setup and activation process depend on your location.
What changed (2025–2026): Crypto.com cut its card rewards hard. The headline cashback fell from 8% to 5% at the top tier. From November 2025, you must have an active CRO stake or a paid subscription to earn any cashback at all — without one, your rate drops to 0%. The Amazon Prime rebate was discontinued (2 Nov 2025), though the Spotify and Netflix rebates remain. The figures below are the verified 2026 structure; always confirm the current terms in the app before staking, as Crypto.com changes them often.
Cashback
The rewards you get for purchases are the card's headline feature — but it's a bitter-sweet one, because you need to stake CRO to unlock the better tiers. The more CRO you stake, the higher your tier and cashback. All rewards are paid in CRO, which you can hold, trade or convert to fiat.
Crypto.com renamed its tiers in 2024–25. Here's the verified 2026 structure (old card names in brackets):
| Tier | Old name | CRO stake (approx.) | Cashback |
|---|---|---|---|
| Basic | Midnight Blue | none | 0% |
| Plus | Ruby Steel | ~$500 (or a paid subscription) | up to 2% |
| Pro | Royal Indigo / Jade Green | ~$5,000 | up to 3% |
| Private | Frosted Rose Gold / Icy White / Obsidian | $50K–$500K (Obsidian ~$400K) | up to 5% |
To get the top 5% cashback you need roughly $400,000 in CRO staked (Obsidian), typically locked for 12 months — far out of reach for most users. The practical takeaway: most people land in the 0–3% range, and you only earn anything if you keep an active stake or subscription.
Reimbursement on subscription services
Higher tiers still reimburse some subscriptions: Spotify and Netflix are credited up to $13.99/month each (Plus tier and above). However, the Amazon Prime rebate was discontinued in November 2025 — don't count on it.
Some tiers also offer higher-end perks like airport-lounge access (details below).
Besides monthly subscriptions, certain tiers also offer high-end benefits, like:
LoungeKey access
If your card is Royal Indigo/Jade Green and higher, your benefits include access to over 1,000 airport lounges via LoungeKey. Frosted Rose Gold & Icy White and Obsidian have access for an additional guest.
Discounts on Airbnb and Expedia
Holders of Obsidian cards can benefit from a 10% discount on Airbnb, and 10% on Expedia (Expedia discount is available for Frosted Rose Gold & Icy White too)
Additional Rewards
Additionally, top-tier card owners can benefit from Private Jet Partnership, earning Bonus Rewards and getting an Exclusive Merchandise Welcome Pack.
As you noticed by now, Crypto.com is offering some pretty nice rewards, but as mentioned, it all depends on how much meat, CRO coins, you have in the game.
Mobile app
You can track all your transactions, your staked amount and manage your card on your Crypto.com app. It's clean and straightforward to use. So perfect, even if you are a beginner in the crypto space.
The app is available for iOS and Android users, and you can apply for the card in seconds.
How do you get the Crypto.com card?
It's easy. You can apply for the Crypto.com Rewards card through your app, so it's time to download it if you don't have it yet.
⚠️ To earn cashback you'll need to stake CRO, and the stake is locked for a set period (commonly 180 days on lower tiers, and up to 12 months on the top Obsidian tier). Check the current lock-up terms in the app before committing.
Once you have your app downloaded, you have to sign up and create a Crypto.com account and complete your KYC verification.
After this is completed, your next step would be to buy CRO in the app, based on the card tier you are applying for, and deposit them to your Crypto Wallet.
After your CROs are deposited, select the Card tab, choose your desired Visa Card, tap the Stake CRO button and follow instructions.
That's it. Your next task is to wait until you get notified that your card has been shipped.
There are different delivery times, depending on your location.
How to set up my Crypto.com card?
Once your card arrives, you will need to activate it. The activation process depends on your location, so you can check Crypto.com's support docs for more detailed instructions.
However, activating your card is an easy process nevertheless. All you need to do is access the Card section in the app, tap the Activate my Card button, and follow the instructions to enter your CVV and PIN code.
Once you are all set up, the only remaining step is to top-up your card and start spending your hard-earned money.
As the activation and setup of your card depending on your location, so does the topping up of your card. You can see your best options to top up the card for your location here.
Fees and Limits: Crypto.com Card Review
Besides the CRO staking requirements, it's FREE to get your Crypto.com Visa Card.
There is no monthly management fee; however, you need to use your card at least once per year; otherwise, you will be charged a small fee.
You get the interbank exchange rate if you buy something using your Crypto.com Visa Card in another currency.
💡 The interbank rates are the lowest rates that can be found at any particular time and are reserved for big banking institutions. (investopedia.com)
There is a monthly limit on free ATM withdrawal based on the tier, and if you go over 0.5% fee applies, which is very competitive.
We will not go into the details on fees and limits because they highly depend on your location and card tier. However, you can conveniently see all the fees for your specific location in the app's settings in the Fees and Limits section.
Security and customer support: Crypto.com Card
Both Crypto.com exchange their Visa Card is safe to use. They offer high-security standards to protect your crypto assets and all your personal information.
If you encounter any issues with the card, you can reach out to customer service via in-app chat. However, based on the reviews, the support can be slow and, in some cases, also not so helpful.
Our verdict: Crypto.com Card Review
While there are more and more crypto cards on the market that offer rewards and benefits, Crypto.com is what we love to use the most.
It's the combination of benefits, their great mobile app, and also the metal material somehow feels cool.
One of the drawbacks is the amount of CRO that you need to stake to get the highest cashback.
Weirdo Team thinks that this card is a good fit for all crypto investors who believe in their native token and the team behind Crypto.com. Because the more you invest, the more you will get back.
If you are not such a firm believer, you can opt for a lower tier — the Plus tier (formerly Ruby Steel), where staking around $500 of CRO gets you up to 2% cashback plus the Spotify rebate. Just remember that since November 2025 you need an active stake or subscription to earn any cashback at all.
Crypto.com card and app offer a safe, easy way to spend your crypto in real life — just go in with realistic expectations about the rewards, which are a fraction of what they were at launch.
Not financial advice. Staking CRO locks up volatile capital and can fall in value; never stake more than you can afford to lose, and weigh the lock-up against the cashback you'd realistically earn. If you'd rather not stake at all, compare it with Revolut or the alternatives in our best crypto cards roundup.
