Cryptos
Unfortunately, this week's news is dark for the crypto space - FTX collapsed. After launching in 2019, FTX became one of the largest crypto exchanges used by over a million users. On November 2nd, their boat started to sink when CoinDesk reported that Alameda's balance sheets consisted mainly of FTX's native FTT tokens. Alameda Research was co-founded by Sam Bankman-Fried, who was also the founder of FTX. Shortly after, Binance announced they would sell their FTT holdings. Alameda's CEO, Caroline Ellison, tried to put out the fire and made a bid to buy FTT at $22, but it didn't work. Finally, FTX filed for bankruptcy on November 11th, 2022.
Between November 5-7, ETH balances on exchanges dropped from approximately 650 million dollars to around 60 million dollars, with 1 billion dollars in stablecoins transferred out.
Not your key, not your coins. We recommend holding your digital assets in hardware wallets rather than exchanges.
Traveling, what's next?
We have one week remaining in Phnom Penh before relocating to Bangkok for one month, then Ho Chi Minh City for another month until mid-January. We plan spontaneous travel to unexplored locations afterward. Cambodia impressed us positively, and we plan to return.
