NFT Deep Dive Update - It's a mess

Leo Brunnhofer documents his first week of structured NFT research, finding the space overwhelming with the sheer volume of daily project launches and the challenge of identifying promising opportunities. He outlines his research tools and plans to develop systematic evaluation strategies.

I started my dive into the NFT world last week and it's a mess. There are so many projects launching daily that tracking them all is a significant challenge. I've been establishing a research routine to stay informed about the space.

Key Learnings So Far

Taking a hands-on learning approach has already surfaced some important lessons. One early miss: I didn't manage to mint the Invisible Friends NFT Collection, which performed very well post-launch. Missing opportunities like this is part of the learning process, and it's pushing me to develop better systems for identifying promising projects early.

Research Tools

Here are the resources I've been using for NFT analysis:

  • Nansen — great features and details for on-chain analytics
  • OpenSea — the largest marketplace and a useful research tool
  • Rarity.Tools — for assessing rarity rankings
  • Icy.Tools — for tracking trending collections
  • Twitter — essential for identifying early-stage projects before they hit the major platforms

Next Steps

My future focus areas include:

  • Following "smart money" wallets to discover emerging projects
  • Creating systematic evaluation methods for fundamental analysis
  • Developing a framework for assessing project quality before minting
