Consistent daily progress toward your goals is what separates the people who finish from the people who stall — especially when you're working with limited resources and a small team. Pairing a clear set of OKRs with weekly accountability partner meetings is one of the most reliable ways to keep momentum.
This is the exact checklist and set of rules we use to run accountability sessions that aren't a waste of time.
Core Concept
Accountability groups work as mutual support systems: members commit to helping each other improve. The whole thing rests on one word — commitment. The weekly meeting is non-negotiable; the moment it becomes optional, the system stops working.
Accountability Partner Checklist & Rules
Meeting Commitment
- Schedule meetings weekly without skipping, and treat them with the same priority as a client call
- Set a fixed weekly time and confirm it in advance
- Keep sessions brief, positive, non-judgemental, and encouraging
Preparation & Attendance
- Update your progress (e.g. against your OKRs) before the meeting, not during it
- Tell the organiser as early as possible about any unavoidable conflict
- If you genuinely can't attend, still talk through your progress with a partner or friend
- Show up on time — it respects everyone else's schedule
Meeting Quality
Most meetings are a waste of time. Yours shouldn't be. Run focused sessions with a predefined outcome: what each person committed to last week, what actually happened, and the one thing they'll commit to next week.
Make It Stick
A checklist only works if you keep showing up. If you want a structured system to set the goals you're holding each other accountable for, our Goal Setting with OKRs course walks you through it step by step — and if you'd rather have a dedicated partner, we offer accountability support directly.
